Some OS4 advocates have taken the stance that the problem is the USB standard itself. Apparently it's still too new and has bugs that need ironing out.

I'm kind of surprised that nobody has brought up the fact that there are different versions of OS4 for every board. If I go to the store and buy a random PC, I can go to a completely different store and buy a generic copy of Windows - not an Asus version, not a Dell version - and it magically runs on the PC.
No wonder Hyperion is afraid of x86 - *they* really WOULD have to write a version of OS4 for every x86 board out there. And these board-specific rewrites apparently take a very long time. How long did it take to get a version out for the antique PPC expansion cards? How long was the SAM out before Hyperion cobbled together a version for it?
But ultimately, it's all beta! I'm sure the boys at Hyperion will get around to fixing all these problems before the release, right after they finish this year the most ambitious project Hyperion has ever undertaken.
