Over the past couple of years while the lawsuit was being worked out the Friedens were sufficiently cowed. However with the new AInc. settlement and the announcement of their as-proprietary-as-we-can-make-it version of FF, they're back the friendly outspoken coders we all remember!

In a recent thread on AWN an image has been linked which is supposed to be Timberwolf opening a web page. As a joke someone took a copy of the contents shown in the screenshot and pasted into an AROS screenshot. Fireworks ensue:

The Friedens don't like being reminded that they're only relevant because they're the only ones willing to put serious amounts of time into coding for AmigaOS; in the Linux community they'd vanish without a trace. In the larger Windows world, they'd never have been.

Showing the (fake) AROS screenshot will just drive them towards obfuscating and proprietizing their FF build to the point that (rather like their "tweaks" to the bootloaders for A1s - put there to keep the OS on those horridly broken reject industrial controllers) there won't be anything usable for anyone trying to bring FF to AROS (or MorphOS or etc.)

And that's just the way they want it, see paragraph 1. Nobody likes reminders of how tenuous their usefulness is.

We're going to see more of their dismissiveness, hateful diatribes, snark and so on now that they "won". The "Amiga 'community'" NEEDS them. So said "community" will put up with endless abuse coming from the good folks at Hype VOF. More to the point, the real drinkers of the deep kool-ade will always be there to yap like little dogs on Hype's behalf, when Rogue & Co. can't be bothered to heap maledictions on customers personally.

Its about damn time you accept it, Hyperion is doing good and are stronger than ever, if you want AmigaOS its going to be AmigaOS4.1. They are, of course, touchy about the subject of anyone getting there before them, which is usually what happens.

They forget that if they stop announcing things ages in advance and just release the fucking things without hyping the shit out of it, nobody usually gets the chance to one-up them. Getting angry about it doesn't help: they bring it on themselves.

What's the big deal with firefox on the amiga family of operating systems? On Aros, OWB renders everything I throw at it. On the Mac I use safari, on the PC I use firefox. I couldn't care less what browser I'm using as long as it loads pages properly.

Do you remember when OS4 got an HTML editor capable of CSS (that couldn't really browse), and it was like they just won the Nobel prize and Moobunny came under siege by red trolls who said this GREAT NEWS meant MorphOS and AROS were dead?

Exactly. The good thing about Firefox is the extensions and I doubt those will be ported to AOS4 anyway. I use Google Chrome 100% nowadays and it does everything I'd want. Chrome is based on WebKit like Safari and a multitude of other browsers.

What AOS4 (and AROS/MorphOS) really need are good Java and Flash support to be able to browse modern websites.

Was a weak attempt at insulting "cheese" who he was replying to on AmigaWorld. "Cheese" (I think he was cheesegrate, an annoying troll (who screwd Bill Buck, I might add) long ago on ANN.Lu) was irritating him and I was trying to say "crush him".


Sort of also like that "comedian from Russia", who kept saying things like, "In Soviet Union, you don't drive car, car drives you", kind of stuff.

But this is so true and not bizarre! My Lada drives me. The car is so easy and basic that it can drive itself and me! Not like your Toyota, which contains many chips of IBuM I might add! Your car is so complicated, it beeps all the time and has so many electronics that are even faster than an AmigaOne powercomputer!
