windows key press causes beep

Hi,
my windows xp machine beeps in any application, when i type des keys together. any ideas why? .... only happens when you do it quickly. nearly all at once.

as in keys 'd' 'e' 's' quickly one after another... while typing in word, notepad, on the desktop.. etc.

Your keyboard probably doesn't support using these keys all at the same time. Some keyboards (especially older ones) only allowed 2 keys at a time. Are you sure its just des? What about any other row of keys?

interesting, it's just 6 keys:
we
sd
xc

press any 3 of them in any order, nearly together and the laptop beeps.
3 other keys together is fine.
I must try this on ubuntu.

it doesn't happen on ubuntu

Ubuntu doesn't beep when it gets a weird character, Windows does.
